OpenAPI Openly Humiliates Themselves
So I can’t believe I am telling you this story much less that it occurred. The fact that the OpenAPI maintainers doubled down on something so amazingly stupid and then tried to LIE ABOUT confirming it with ROY FIELDING is so mind bogglingly stupid, I find it hard to believe it even occurred.
It all started when I filed a bug on the new OpenApi Arazzo project where they are trying to track api call flows in JSON. I noticed they were only tracking ‘external redirects’ and didn’t track ‘internal redirects’.
So I filed a bug.
Their response??? Maintainer Henry Andrews insisted there was no such thing as an ‘internal redirect’ or internal redirection!
Thats right. Their maintainer said, even though it exists in multiple frameworks, I must have ‘made it up’. Wow. The ignorance and arrogance it takes to make such a statement is astounding.

That is one way to say ‘I haven’t a clue what I’m doing and I’m going to blame you’
I later checked with ChatGpt about this too which logged the entire conversation and had this to say:
So I refiled the ticket with more information and this time one of my favorite(?) maintainers, Darrel Miller, answered saying he had spoken to Roy Fielding (the guy who wrote the defining dissertation on ALL APIs) and he said they didn’t exist.
So I emailed Mr Fielding, who contridicted them entirely:
Unbelievable! Now they are just outright blatantly LIEING!!! Now its not so much that they haven’t a clue what they are doing but that they are putting words into the mouth of basically the CREATOR of Modern API’s!
To be fair, Darrel Miller does not have a good track record with understanding API’s either as he rejected the need for ROLES in OpenAPI even though this is part of RBAC/ABAC standard supported by OWASP.
I didn’t think OpenAPI could get more abominable and desperate but I have seen the light.
Someone get them a seat in the Trump administration…
UPDATE: This apparently got me banned from submitting to OpenAPI and now they have hidden all posts by me so you have to drill down to see them… they have descended into childish politics rather than try to resolve their fuckup.
