well I still use the cloud for alot of my tasks. EC2, Cloudfront, s# Buckets and even Lambdas for one-off tests for webhooks. But to say they are scalable is a lie. They scale to a point… and that point is the limit of the service.

EC2‘s scale is the limit of your bandwidth. Etc.

You have to be logically about every tool and understand its limitations.
